Ivanov Alexander Vasilievich was born in August 14, 1960 in Leningrad.
Ivanov A.V. began his activity in the system of higher professional training in 1993 as a adjuster of printing equipment in the printing house of SPSTU. Having displayed great organizational abilities, deep knowledge of polygraphic technologies, and the ability to govern personnel, on the basis of the printing-house, editorial-publishing department, and section of duplicating technique he founded a publishing house oriented on publication of educational and scientific literature, developed and introduced principles of renumeration of labor in the field of publishing and polygraphy in conditions of underfinancing of higher schools.
Having generalized the experience of some publishing sub-units of higher schools of Saint-Petersburg, having correctly structured problems, facing higher school publishers, he was an initiator of the organization of the Publishing-Polygraphic Association of Higher Schools of Saint-Petersburg (Publishing-Polygraphic Association of Universities of Russia).
In 1998, he was appointed by the order of the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation as the co-chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Publishing Activity of Higher Schools of Russia of the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation. Being a co-chairman several times, he made reports at the collegiums of the Ministries of the Russian Federation on the problems of higher school publishing and book distributing activity. He is one of the developers of the new three stage concept for the evaluation of contents of the publishing of educational literature for universities.
He has the gratitude of the Ministry (1998, 1999), has been awarded the Jubilee medal issued by the 100th Anniversary of the Polytechnic Institute (1999), Diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation (1999) and award «Honored Employee of Higher School» (2002).
He is the author of more than 50 publications in scientific and specialized journals on the problems of integration of higher school publishing, optimization of circulation policy and the wide range of problems connected with providing necessary educational literature for the  educational process.
Among the works by A.V. Ivanov there are: «Informational Managing Technologies in Publishing Activity» (monograph), «Methodical Recommendations for the Author of a Higher School Book», «Informational Technologies in Publishing and Book Manufacturing Activity» (manual). A.V. Ivanov was the editor of the translated books of the series «The Culture of Publishing»: «The ABC of Publishing» and «A Guide to Fonts».
 
In 2004, accepted for membership in the Gutenberg International Society (Mainz, Germany).
